Updated Planning for the Sustainable Living, 2010/11 Workshops

The 2010/11 Sustainable Living workshops will feature two themes, Sustainable Living and Seasonal Food Workshops . At least 30 sessions of each theme will be presented during this season. A partial presentation of each event will be published at http://nurturingnature.blogspot.com/ The workshops will be held every Thursday morning from 9h30-11h00, at 19 rue Paul Jozon, Fontainebleau. The tariff is 50€ for 10 lessons and 8€ for a once off attendance. Theses workshops aim to advance the understanding of sustainability and hope to facilitate the implementation of sustainability in your life. Sustainability is the capacity to endure. In ecology the word describes how biological systems remain diverse and productive over time. With the responsible use of our natural resources we can ensure our long-term wellbeing and that of the earth. Report: Agroecology and the right to food [8 March 2011] GENEVA- Today, the Special Rapporteur presented his new report “Agro-ecology and the right to food” before the UN Human Rights Council. Based on an extensive review of recent scientific literature, the report demonstrates that agroecology, if sufficiently supported, can double food production in entire regions within 10 years while mitigating climate change and alleviating rural poverty. Nous avons un droit à l'alimentation, ...,et le rapporteur de cette commission, Mr Olivier de Schutter, vient de rendre public, le 8 mars 2011, son rapport stipulant que l'agroécologie , dans certaines régions, pourrait permettre de doubler la production alimentaire.

A diversity of crops has nourished mankind for thousands of years. Seeds that we have inherited from past generations are the basis of life and are essential for food sovereignty. The big seed trusts are determined to obtain worldwide control. This has been made clear by genetic engineering, patents on plants and animals, the introduction of seed reproduction fees… Add to that terminator technology that destroys the fertility of seeds and the prohibition of peasant varieties.
